In this installation set in the old sugar cane factory, multicolored stems are suspended from the metallic structure of a long warehouse. They are reminiscent of sugar canes, long vertical lines raining down, generous monsoon ; this joyous rain brightens with its colours a grey metallic world. This lane is peopled with a row of puppets, figures roughly shaped by heads stuck on sticks. They symbolize the workers in the sugar cane fields and are the still witnesses of the sugar era coming to its end. The colours are evocative of the candy industry and childhood, they are those of the sweet and tasty striped candy canes and long lollypops that make children happy. A thousand felt pens were collected in order to create this piece ; they come from schools in Toulouse, in the south of France, the town where the artist lives, and from the Kaohsiung recycling facility. The artist uses in her work ordinary and mass-produced objects that are part of our daily lives ; she participates in recycling collection events to find her materials.
